Welcome to our Board, Former Mayor Ellen Moyer!

Maryland Votes For Animals is proud to announce our first honorary board member, former mayor of Annapolis, Ellen Moyer.  Welcome Ellen, and thank you for taking a political stand for the animals of Maryland!

Many of you know that Ellen is no stranger to animal advocacy.  Even while mayor of Annapolis she was never too busy to help a cat in need.  (What a special lady!)  She also has a big place in her heart for dogs and horses.  Among her work for animals, she's been actively engaged in cat rescue and has fought against the cruelty of dog fighting. 

Ellen is a kindred spirit to all of us who know that every animal who suffers deserves our protection from those who are cruel.  Here's her statement of support for animals and MVFA's work to make Maryland a more humane state:

"Our four footed friends are innocents needy of our support and protection.  Animal abuse by its nature denies a compassionate nature, essential to wholesome living.  Actions that purposely cause pain and suffering need to be heavily penalized under our laws."
