Thank You to Our Dedicated Volunteers

MVFA is an all volunteer organization working to improve the lives' of animals by getting animal protection laws passed in the Maryland General Assembly. This work takes many forms: we're building a voting bloc of humane voters who are actively involved in speaking up for animals, we're actively lobbying legislators on behalf of animals, we evaluate and then endorse humane candidates in elections, and we make donations to legislators on behalf of animals and the laws that are needed to protect them. Thankfully, MVFA had a hugely successful session in 2011 where an unprecedented number of animal protection laws passed!
Many of our volunteers have worked countless hours to make this happen. Some people volunteer full-time, some volunteer part-time, many give up their weekends and evenings or take off from work to testify for (or against) a bill. There's not a cent of pay or commendation; our volunteers do this simply because they care about animals and are accutely aware of the suffering that must end. They are also accutely aware that passing legislation to protect animals is the single most important--and most effective---thing that we can do to help animals.
Every once in a while we get a letter that our volunteers should know about. Here it is verbatim, with a few omissions to protect her privacy. And THANK YOU to the letter writer for noticing that our volunteers are making a huge difference for Maryland's animals:
