ACTION ALERT - Animal Abuse Registry!

Animal abuse is rampant in Maryland with horrendous acts of cruelty regularly reported by the media. Who of us can forget Phoenix and Mittens who were doused with gasoline and burned alive in separate incidents? More recently, Heidi (a golden retriever puppy) was shot multiple times and killed while playing in her own yard.
The only bright spot in these unthinkably cruel incidents is that they have finally resulted in a bill to create an animal abuse registry in Maryland, “Heidi’s Law.” Heidi’s Law will help stop animal abuse, reduce violent crime and reduce recidivism. You can read our detailed Fact Sheet on this legislation here.
If you are a member of MVFA and subscribe to the mail list, you should have gotten an email with a link to do just that already. (Good reason to join MVFA.)
If you are not a member, find your legislator's contact information here and send them an email similar to this.
Then try to attend the first hearing on this bill:
Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 1:00 PM
Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee Room
Senate Office Building
11 Bladen Street
Annapolis, MD 21401
You can testify, if you like, or you can just attend to show your support by wearing an MVFA button.
Thank you for all you do for the animals!
