Gearing up for the 2010 Legislative Session

Do you love animals? Are you interested in seeing tougher laws in the state of Maryland for those who abuse animals? Did you know that Maryland ranks a low 32nd place out of 50 on the strength of its animal protection laws according to the Animal Legal Defense Fund 2008 State Report? Please consider joining your fellow animal advocates in Maryland this legislative session and giving voiceless abused animals a voice...yours!
Maryland Votes For Animals currently has over 2000 members statewide. We're the first statewide Political Action Committee in Maryland devoted to getting humane laws passed and humane legislators elected, and we're gearing up for the upcoming legislative session. Bills in the pipeline include an anti-cruelty bill, a truth in labeling for fur, and additional bills to improve the lives of animals in our state.
Please consider joining us at the state capital in Annapolis on Humane Lobby Day, Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Citizens from all over the state will converge on the capital, receive training from MVFA's volunteer lobbyists and from professionals from the Humane Society of the United States. We'll meet with our legislators and be the voice of the abused animals.
If you were appalled by the story of the dog Phoenix who was set on fire in the streets of Baltimore this summer by twin 17 year old brothers, resulting in 3rd degree burns over 95% over her body, you are being called to action...
Step One: Mark your calendars, take off work and join us for Lobby Day on February 23rd. Details coming soon.
Step Two: Tell all your animal-loving friends about MVFA. Ask them to sign up on our website and participate in Lobby Day.
Step Three: Watch for our email Action Alerts then take just a minute to pick up the phone or email your lawmakers.
Step Four: Feel good that you're taking an active roll in improving the lives of suffering animals in Maryland!!!
And don't forget, join MVFA to have you voice counted!
